Originally from Pinson, Tennessee, a small town just south of Jackson, I grew up in schools and around education. Many of my family members were educators including my mother. Teaching isn't just a profession, but a way of life for me. It is my passion and my calling. Thank you for allowing me to walk with you and your child on this journey through first grade!
I began teaching in January 1999 as a recent graduate of Union University. During my 2nd year in the classroom, I completed my Masters of Education in Curriculum and Instruction. In 2008, I completed my certification in Administration and Supervision. I've taught 1st, 2nd, 3rd, and 5th grades in two different states. I also spent 7 years as an Instructional Coach and Reading Interventionist. Most recently I served two summers as a Tennessee State Common Core Coach training teachers across the state.
I married my best friend in 2001 and moved to the Commonwealth of Virginia. We were living 3 miles south of the Pentagon on September 11. Kevin and I are proud parents of our fur baby, Bakster the beagle. We enjoy spoiling our nephew and niece, traveling, and learning with our small group of young professionals.
